PAMIE
Hey, I was thinking about the lyrics to "True Love Waits."
STEE
The Radiohead song?
PAMIE
Uh-huh.
STEE
It's like, "Duh-NUUUUH-NUUH-NAAH-NUHHH!"
PAMIE
Right. Like, "I shout out my duhhhnnnh!"
STEE
Perfect for a wedding.
PAMIE
It's simple, though. I guitar, and then that weird beeping, and one person singing.
STEE
It's an import, right? Not on an album?
PAMIE
I don't think so. I was trying to figure out the lyrics on the plane. It's something like, "I love your crazy smile." And then there's something about "True love waits in haunted hotels." Something about crossing a hundred highways to be together.
STEE
"Dunnnh-NUH-NAAA-NUH-WAITS!"
PAMIE
Although I think the chorus is "Lonely. Loooonely!"
STEE
You just want Radiohead at the wedding.
PAMIE
Kinda.
STEE
"Cut the kids in half?"
PAMIE
"We hope that you choke, that you choke!"
STEE
Google the lyrics.
PAMIE
We can't do "A Punchup at a Wedding" either.
STEE
No, I suppose not. But "True Love Waits" is a pretty song.
PAMIE
Here goes. Oh.
STEE
Let me see. Oh.
PAMIE
Yeah.
I'll drown my beliefs
To have you be in peace
I'll dress like your niece
To wash your swollen feet
Just don't leave, don't leave
And true love waits
In haunted attics
And true love wins
On lollipops and crisps
Just don't leave, don't leave
I'm not living
I'm just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kiss and smile
Just lonely, lonely..
Just lonely, lonely..
STEE
Does that say "Lollipops and crisps?"
PAMIE
Unfortunately.
STEE
Search another site.
PAMIE
Good idea.
STEE
You got the "Lonely, lonely" part right.
PAMIE
Damn. Same lyrics.
STEE
Well, it was a good thought.
PAMIE
I think we should still do it, just to confuse everybody.
STEE
True love does win on lollipops and crisps.
PAMIE
"To wash your swollen feet"?
STEE
I think we'll have to keep looking.
Song info from followmearound.com: This song was debuted at the Luna Theater show in Brussels in December of 1995. This performance featured Thom on acoustic guitar and Jonny on keyboards. Thom then played a beautiful acoustic version by himself on July 8, 2000 in Israel.
Thom, when asked how he came up with the line lollipops and crisps, "cos it meant a lot to me that out of all the things in the world to choose you chose those two items i read an article about a child who was between 5-8 yrs old who was left on his/her own for a week in a house when his parents left on hoilday and he lived on lollipops on crisps. true." (01/04/00)
Thom also commented on the meaning of the line "I'll dress like your niece," saying "the difference between young and old when people start to dress sensible and act their age. this person is offering not to do that to keep the other. alles klarr?"

It might not be moral. It might not be safe. Hell, it might not be legal.
What I do know is, I just got me a new t-shirt.
