Bring It To the Next Quadrant, Fool.

Please consider the following plea to your much larger reader base--a SF high school robotics club won the regional championship and spot to the National championship but is inner-city and doesn't have the money to go. Yes, it's Bring It On with geeks and robots!

Because I'm lazy, you can get links here, including news stories, the team's website with paypal info.

Thanks, and you owe me a Molly Maid session due to the numerous times I've spit stuff on my home and work computers reading your work--

She wrote so in her blog. (Scroll down to 3/16).

Making the World a Little Smaller

Longtime reader Misty writes:
You probably won't find this as exciting as maybe you would have all those months ago when this was all new, but as an artist struggling here on the East Coast, I'd like to think you're still riding that "oh my god! is this my life?!" despite the craziness and ongoing work and stress and occasional rejection -- and I'm hoping this comes to you as a happy thought. And maybe on a day when it might seem far away, keep you writing for just a half hour more.

I've been reading your journal for what seems like ever, and read your book and love them both. A lot of it I'm sure has to do with the fact that so many times you seem to cut straight to the chase of how I've felt, and couldn't find words for. Well, today I was walking to work, passing the bus stop on 34th and 3rd when a girl standing near the curb burst out laughing. So loud, in fact, that even in my NYC commuter haze I looked over to see the fuss.

And she was standing there, bundled up waiting for the bus wiping tears away and laughing out loud holding your book.

And it made me laugh too. I smiled at how cool that was all the way to work.

Thanks, Pamie!

Comedy is Hard.

Sometimes I fail and sometimes I succeed.

i miss you, too

Today I made a list of all the entries I haven't written yet that need to be. So know I'm thinking about you, hitters of the "refresh" button.

But one of the entries was going to be me simply saying this: I can't believe how much I liked Dawn of the Dead. Also, my faith in America has been restored with Satan trumping Jesus at the box office.

And also this: Holy cow, that picture of Bruce Willis on the billboards for The Whole Ten Yards is absolutely terrifying. [link warning: terrifying photo of Bruce Willis inside]

me: Is that Paul Newman? Wait. What is that?
stee: Bruce Willis.
me: No. Is he wearing old age makeup?
stee: Sadly, no.
me: Is he playing Mr. Burns from The Simpsons?
stee: Again: sadly, no.
me: But the pointy nose, the scary neck, the skin, the...
stee: Are you talking about Bruce Willis, or Kevin Pollack in the old-age makeup?
me: Both! Either! What the hell is going on? Is that movie set in the future?
stee: No.
me: What was the first one about?
stee: I don't know! I didn't see it!
me: So defensive!
stee: Why would I have seen the first one?
me: You saw S.W.A.T..
stee: That can't be your answer to every question.
me: Is Bruce Willis sick? Is he recovering from something?
stee: I think Bruce Willis might be getting old.
me: I'm so scared of that billboard.
stee: There's one literally every ten yards.
me: He looks like he's melting.
